Story: Happy Birthday Mr.
Kang
- ivy (n.):  a plant that has long stems and that often grows on the outsides
     of buildings
 - * ginkgo (n.): a type of tree
 - almond (n.): an oval edible nutlike seed from a woody shell
 - breeze (n.): a light wind
 - breast (n.): the front part of a person's body between the neck and the
     stomach 
 - dawn (n.): the first part of the morning
 - extra (adj.): more than is usual or necessary
 - firm (adj.): fairly hard or solid; not soft
 - curtain (n.): a piece of cloth that hangs down from above a window and can be
     used to cover the window
 - inch by inch (phr.): by moving very slowly
 - fence (n.):  a structure like a wall built outdoors usually of wood or metal
     that separates two areas or prevents people or animals from entering or
     leaving
 - afterwards (adv.): at a later time; after something
 - interrupt (v.): to ask questions or say things while another person is speaking: to
     do or say something that causes someone to stop speaking
 - block (n.): an area of land in a city surrounded by four streets
 - apartment (n.):  a set of rooms that is part of a building and used as a
     place to live
 - railing (n.): a fence or barrier made of steel bars
 - native tongue (phr.): the language of the country that someone is born 
 - throat (n.): the front part of a person’s or animal’s neck
 - accent (n.): a way of pronouncing words that occurs among the people in a
     particular region or country
 - historical (adj.): of or concerning past events
 - enhance (v.): further improve the quality, value, or extent of
 - diverse (adj.): showing a great deal of variety
 - prejudiced (adj.): having or showing a dislike or distrust because of different cultures
     
 - population (n.):  all the inhabitants of a
     particular place
 - achieve (v.):  successfully bring about
     or reach a desired objective or result by effort, skill, or courage
 - opportunity (n.):   a time or set of
     circumstances that makes it possible to do something
 - threshold (n.): a strip of wood or stone forming the bottom of a doorway and crossed in entering a house or room
